The last time she casted a spell, she was very weak so I was worried what spell she casted now. "Open it," Jax said, his voice sounding tense. My fingers fumbled with the clasp. I flipped through the brittle pages, my heart pounding. Then I saw it. A chapter, neatly titled in elegant script: "Becoming a Full Magician." What? Elena never told me anything about this. Was this a new spell? How powerful was this spell that it turned her almost mindless? I tried to look through the book to know if there was any part that talked about the side effects of such a spell or what it would cost whoever cast it but there was nothing. All it had was the spell, a single line and nothing else.

She rubbed her forehead, ready to hand it back—then stopped. Her eyes caught the title. Spell Book. She paused. Slowly, she looked up at him. He had already straightened, watching her with a nervous smile. Zayla stood and flipped the book open, scanning a page. “You do spells?” she asked. He hesitated. “Well… yes. I’ve mastered most of them.” Her brow lifted. “Really?” He nodded. "I only know healing spells. I’m decent at them. Defensive spells, though…” Zayla exhaled. “Those refuse to listen to me.”

Her days on this earth are numbered. I angrily collected the book from Zina, flipping it. There were a lot of spells here, and I wondered how we were going to master them because we just have one brain. I was still flipping when my eyes caught the shadow spell, dark magic written clearly on the side. I rolled my eyes because I wasn't understanding anything, closing the book. I looked up to Master Colt, listening to his order about the mind link spell. Everything was boring to me. I really wanted to settle down and think about my payback plan.

hoping. But there was nothing. Not even a flutter. Not even warmth. Just emptiness. Jezebel told me the spell would work right away. That I'd feel it. A spark, a pulse, a bloom of life inside me. She said the magic would be strong, ancient, something even the Moon would recognize. That by the time the next sun rose, I'd be carrying Alpha Dexter's child... or at least a child the world would believe belonged to him. She never said where it would come from.

Then I raised the book high above my head, ready to begin the ritual that would either save us or destroy everything we had. The words spilled from my lips, ancient and unfamiliar, the power within me stirring with each syllable. The magic surged, the flames of the fire around us crackling and twisting, the ground beneath our feet shaking with the force of the spell. I could feel the curse unraveling, the dark thread that had bound us for so long beginning to fray and break apart. And then, just as the final words left my mouth, Lucien stepped forward. “No!” he shouted, his voice rising in panic. “Cassia, stop!”

Those who had doubted me now looked at Misael and Alayna with pure contempt. I stepped forward to Alayna. "Alayna, it seems your black magic worked exactly as planned. Except you didn't steal a pup. You stole a tumor." Alayna completely broke down. "No! I don't believe it! I'm the honored Luna! How could things turn out like this?" Misael's face was drained of color. His legs gave out, and he collapsed to the floor. It was all over.

The hours stretched on as Ares and Kael pored over the spell book, its yellowed pages heavy with the weight of ancient knowledge. The words blurred in Ares’ vision, a jumble of incantations and symbols she couldn’t quite make sense of. She had been so sure that this was the way forward, that breaking the curse would be as simple as deciphering the right spell. But the deeper they dug, the more elusive the answers seemed.

The air crackled with unseen energy, making the hairs on her arms stand on end. "Lilith?" Caspian's voice sounded distant, tinged with concern. She didn't dare open her eyes or break her focus. The spell teetered on a knife's edge, raw power pulsing through her veins. One misstep, and it could all come crashing down... Lily pushed through, her voice growing stronger as she neared the end of the chant. The air around her shimmered, charged with arcane energy. With a final, resonant word, she felt the spell coalesce.

"My beloved, within the Book of Spells, there lies a spell so great that if it succeeds, it shall build the perfect race."
