House of Sighs

House of Sighs

PART FOUR: Scissors “The leaves of memory seemed to make A mournful rustling in the dark” —HenryWadsworth Longfellow, The Burning of the Drift-Wood” FIFTY-FIVE Flies swarmed Peter’s body. A spider in a tree ran the length of its web to catch its prey; it usually hunted at night but couldn’t pass a prize as sweet as this. The spider wrestled the butterfly until its web broke and both fell to the ground. A martyr to hunger.

Fly to the Moon

Fly to the Moon

It’s just that, I would like to read him through his actions as if he is speaking to me. He glances at me and stops to look at me straight into the eyes. His stares is like telling me that he is good at stare battles. I blink and avert my eyes to no place particular. “Wow. You won that easy.” I started flipping the pages of my book but I couldn’t concentrate. I close it and look at him again. “You seriously won’t talk to me?” He places his book down and looks at me as if it’s boring to talk to someone like me.

How to Avoid Death on a Daily Basis

How to Avoid Death on a Daily Basis

And then the horse was airborne as the webbing snapped back like elastic. A horse’s belly flashed over my head as I lay on the ground, followed by the cart. I did the only thing I could think of, I threw a flame at it. My flames weren’t great at setting things on fire, not deliberately in any case, but the cart was covered in straw. It caught fire immediately. The spider had raised the first two legs on either side of its head, rearing up to reveal the fanged opening under its scythe-blade mandibles. The horse was sucked right into the spider’s hideous maw, followed by the flaming wagon.

The Game of Heavens and Earth

The Game of Heavens and Earth

Moving my gaze to check, there was a spider that was standing on four legs, wearing the same clothes and top hat as… “Zeki, is that you?” “It is I.” The spider bowed. “You… you’re the spider god.” I remembered a character from a story he told back in Rockland. “You’re his brave.” He bowed again. “Anansi’s Brave, the trickster spider god of stories.” I gasped, “You’ve been following me this whole time?” He chuckled, “Guilty as charged.” “I thought you were leaving with the other guilds.”

THE HABITAT

THE HABITAT

Kent said. "The spider's eyesight is really good, maybe that's why the bees, although small, were no match for it." Ivan added. Alex thought of it, too. The spiders solely rely on their webs for hunting, if an insect touches it, it sends a vibration to the waiting spider and that's where the spider moves towards their prey where they feast it. "Then the bees must have died before they could even send me back a message. Did you see anything that the spider monster did? Any unique traits?" Kent asked.

look on his face. I walked outside and changed myself into a sparrow. It wasn’t snowing at the moment, nor was it windy, so I had no trouble flying over to Sam and Starla’s house. The fire wasn’t burning in the fireplace, so I flew down the chimney, but before I reached the bottom, I changed myself into a fly so I wouldn’t make so much noise. I stayed in the fireplace for a moment and listened. I could hear Starla’s voice, and I knew she was talking to Ben, even though I couldn’t see either one of them from where I was perched inside of the fireplace.

Very enjoyable. It's great that it's more of a polyamory than a man harem like a lot of recent books are. The characters personalities are well defined and do not stray or muddle into a bunch with the same attitude.

I love this book and think the author is very talented. my only concern is the cost of reading the book is around 100 dollars. I wish it was broken up into two or even three books but it is worth the time if you want to spend that much on 1 book.

Rules and Roses

Rules and Roses

Family is the only thing that the free man makes for himself and by himself. ✾ “One of these days, you understand you would have to shift, right?” Tilting my head up, I’m greeted by the hut’s ceiling. It was brown and dingy. Cobwebs aplenty were formed at the corners. Interestingly enough, I’ve found it more entertaining to watch how a small spider was wrapping a bug, squinting my eyes I notice that it was a moth, in a crystallized white web cone. It probably got stuck there or something. Someone cleared his throat from beside me, but I don’t avert my gaze from the spider wrapping the bug. The spider rolls the moth around, wrapping it up as it goes. A few inches away from the spider getting

I have not read the book as yet; I read the quotes at beginning of each chapter, from chapter 10 onwards. I found the quotes relevant to current situations I am facing. Thanks for a timely reminder, author! I will be reading the book soon and I anticipate an enjoyable read

FLUX

Jack continued to guide the smaller fireball ahead of Lexi as he ran to catch up to her, flicking his knife out. The tunnel opened up on the sides. As the fire lit the room, small furry spiders lurched forward after them. Lexi jumped over one in her path. As Jack approached, the spider lunged up in the air at him. He swung his arm out in front, the knife jutting from the palm of his hand. It hit the spider in the middle of its eyes. It screamed as the knife crunched and slid into its surface. Small bits of blue blood seeped out of the wound as the spider fell away to the side. Jack continued forward. The other spiders hissed their disapproval and skittered after them.

You are my FLAME

You are my FLAME

I adjusted my hands so that it won't fall. I took a closer look at it. It was a spider. It was so small and yellow. It looked so cute and I moved my hand closer to my eyes to take a good look. Suddenly it stopped moving and I could see its eyes. Three pairs of black eyes staring straight at me. It was so fascinating that I didn't know how long I was looking at it and I forgot that I was in school with some boy standing near me. A sudden voice made me come out of the trance. "V, come on let's go." I saw another boy calling the boy near me to join him. And just like that, he runs to his friend leaving me there alone.

THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND

THE ALPHA WHO SAVED ME WITH HIS MATE BOND

I said, my voice getting louder with each word. A large disfigured spider, almost the same size as me, jumped out; its eyes were pitch black, and it had a scorpion's stinger at its back. "Stay away!" I yelled as I struggled. "Is someone there?! Magnus! Meredith!" I transformed halfway into my wolf form and growled at the spider, hoping to scare it away, but it persisted forward. The spider's beady eyes fixed on me, and it charged towards me with an eerie screech. I screamed, struggling to escape from the grip of the quicksand. But the spider ran straight into the quicksand, sinking like I was.
