I did the only thing I could think of, I threw a flame at it. My flames weren’t great at setting things on fire, not deliberately in any case, but the cart was covered in straw. It caught fire immediately. The spider had raised the first two legs on either side of its head, rearing up to reveal the fanged opening under its scythe-blade mandibles. The horse was sucked right into the spider’s hideous maw, followed by the flaming wagon.

Moving my gaze to check, there was a spider that was standing on four legs, wearing the same clothes and top hat as… “Zeki, is that you?” “It is I.” The spider bowed. “You… you’re the spider god.” I remembered a character from a story he told back in Rockland. “You’re his brave.” He bowed again. “Anansi’s Brave, the trickster spider god of stories.” I gasped, “You’ve been following me this whole time?” He chuckled, “Guilty as charged.” “I thought you were leaving with the other guilds.”

Jack continued to guide the smaller fireball ahead of Lexi as he ran to catch up to her, flicking his knife out. The tunnel opened up on the sides. As the fire lit the room, small furry spiders lurched forward after them. Lexi jumped over one in her path. As Jack approached, the spider lunged up in the air at him. He swung his arm out in front, the knife jutting from the palm of his hand. It hit the spider in the middle of its eyes. It screamed as the knife crunched and slid into its surface. Small bits of blue blood seeped out of the wound as the spider fell away to the side. Jack continued forward. The other spiders hissed their disapproval and skittered after them.

I adjusted my hands so that it won't fall. I took a closer look at it. It was a spider. It was so small and yellow. It looked so cute and I moved my hand closer to my eyes to take a good look. Suddenly it stopped moving and I could see its eyes. Three pairs of black eyes staring straight at me. It was so fascinating that I didn't know how long I was looking at it and I forgot that I was in school with some boy standing near me. A sudden voice made me come out of the trance. "V, come on let's go." I saw another boy calling the boy near me to join him. And just like that, he runs to his friend leaving me there alone.

I said, my voice getting louder with each word. A large disfigured spider, almost the same size as me, jumped out; its eyes were pitch black, and it had a scorpion's stinger at its back. "Stay away!" I yelled as I struggled. "Is someone there?! Magnus! Meredith!" I transformed halfway into my wolf form and growled at the spider, hoping to scare it away, but it persisted forward. The spider's beady eyes fixed on me, and it charged towards me with an eerie screech. I screamed, struggling to escape from the grip of the quicksand. But the spider ran straight into the quicksand, sinking like I was.
