June yelled. Dante jumped on the spider’s back, ripped the glass off its center, and tore out the burning coal. He hurled it at the wall. The spider shut down and crashed. Marcus and Raven took out the other two spiders, smashing their legs with metal pipes. When they finished, they stood breathing hard, faces smeared with black dust. The giant vault door started to spin, groaning open. Inside, the room looked part library, part science lab—thousands of books lined the walls, but the books were made of gold sheets.

“The time we’ve wasted and lost.” “But then you showed up here two days ago, at long fucking last,” Spider said. “When you stormed in like some lovesick teenaged Romeo and said that you loved her, I was ready to dance on the goddamn tables, I swear. I pretended to not know you, but I let you stay here and hang out. I pushed her to talk to you, and I promised myself that if you two sorted it out between you, I’d finally tell you about the gun. And now I have.”

He studied their movements and to where they kept his girlfriend Yennifer. The ground seems muddy and itchy with dead grasses over it. He began to scratch his neck when he felt something tickling on his nape until he clasps a giant spider. It looks made of metal just like a robot spider. Adoneram hastily began to feel numb all over his body and he saw black dots everywhere. He pressed his chest harder because he thought, something puts weight on it and he could barely breathe. " Mom, Help!" The last thing he said until he felt two strong hands yanking his arms forward.

Spider, seated in the passenger seat, leaned forward slightly, his eyes narrowing as he studied the dark tree line on both sides of the road. “That wasn’t here yesterday,” Spider muttered. Sarah, seated in the back, looked up from her phone. “What’s wrong?” Scorpion didn’t answer right away. His gaze swept the surroundings, too quiet, too clean. No animals. No passing cars. Even the wind seemed to have gone still. “This is wrong,” Spider said flatly, turning halfway toward Sarah. “Ma’am, we need to brace for impact.” Her stomach tightened instantly. “Impact?” Spider reached for the door handle. “I’ll step out and move it.”

For a second, something cracks in my chest. He stays there, staring at Peter for a long time. Then, without a word, he turns around and leaves. The door clicks softly behind him. I reach for the toy, pressing it gently into Peter’s palm. “Look, baby. Daniel brought your Spider-Man. He’s here, okay? He’s watching over you.”

I rested my elbow on the table and he followed my move. “I was once chased down from a twenty-five-floor building, half-naked because a man had caught me in bed with his wife.” My eyes widened, and my jaw dropped at the confession. “And you survived?” “I did. Luckily, he was a mere executive and my brother, the then-future Underboss could whip his ass and withdraw any shares of that man’s company he had. So, alas! I was saved.” “By your arse-saving brother.” “By him.” He pouted and asked, “What about you? Your interests? Any embarrassing story that would make me feel like I’m not the odd one out?"

The cabin is still here, two years after I found it while taking a pee break during a school hiking trip. "Let's go," I say. We run inside, and I lock the door behind us. We're safe, for now.
