“She’s...her eyes...oh god, look at her eyes!” “Silver and Gold—what is that?!” “She’s not normal, she’s not supposed to be...she’s...” They screamed again as I rose to my feet or what was left of me. Fur white and black as day and night covered my arms. My teeth were longer than any beta’s. My breath steamed in the cold that had suddenly swallowed the room. The ground trembled under me. Kian had stepped back, his face pale. His lips parted in shock.

I asked. As Nutty pulled me down the mountain, he explained, "My uncle told me there's a spider on Crimson Mountain. The villagers also call it the Seduction Spider. "This creature can mimic human voices, calling people by name. As soon as the person being called responds, they immediately fall under its poison, become entranced, and run to its nest to die." Nutty spoke while his feet never stopped moving, dragging me along at breakneck speed. I said anxiously, "The cattle! The commune's cattle are still in the mountains!"

Shadow asked, tightening her grip on her katana. “Is that what you ask a friend whom you meet after decades? Ah…I’m so hurt” Spider feigned a brittle voice, putting her hand on her heart. “I’m assigned with the safe delivery of the arms to the Davies. And of course, I miss you.” This crazy woman never fails to amuse me with her dramatic dialogue. Shadow rolled her eyes. “I’m so disappointed in you, darling,” Spider said, standing on the roof. “You took too long to come here.” Her voice was contoured with disappointment. Though she pouted, her mask covered it up. “I even had to send you a text message.”

My vision blurred, my ears rang. It hurt. It hurt so much. I saw Kael shift into a massive wolf and charge beneath the broodmother’s belly. A piercing screech echoed, followed by the sound of tearing flesh and a wet, disgusting burst. The stench exploded through the air, making it hard to breathe. Then, from the treetops above, bodies began falling like rain. Dead spiders are raining down. I couldn’t move at all, not even to dodge. One spider fell straight toward me, and I accepted it.

I growled and her eyes widened as she began shaking her head "Ka...Kaden, please...please, we can...we can talk this out, Kaden..." Her voice broke, trembling with fear as her breath hitched. Spider took a step toward her, he gripped the fabric of her dress and dragged the blade through it in one clean, merciless stroke. The cloth split apart like paper, falling away in shreds, leaving her shivering and exposed in nothing but her thin lingerie. Spider turned his eyes away immediately, making his way out without staring at her body. He had no reason to respect her anymore. She was nothing but a traitor now.

The massive spider slammed its body against its new impressment, only to be strong by every attempt. The spider is too powerful and fast, catching up to them. It directs another sharp arrow at them, this time nearly hitting Anna. “Airen, it is now or never!” She shouts. “We must find its weak spot!” Airen nods. “Hold on!” He growls. The dragon does a backflip which nearly throws Anna off but she grabs onto him. For a brief moment, they fly underneath the spider, which gives Anna a glimpse of flesh among the metal body. “I see it!” She cries. The spider covers its weak spot and hisses loudly, spitting out venom from its mouth. Some of it grazes Anna’s arm, causing some burns but she ignores them.

Lightning crackled in the air, striking down the creatures one by one. The largest spider, the one that had nearly killed Fatima, let out a deafening screech. It lunged at me, its fangs bared, but I met it head-on. My magic surged, forming a blade of pure energy in my hands. With a single, decisive strike, I drove the blade into the creature’s chest. It let out a final, guttural screech before collapsing in a heap of smoldering ash. The remaining spiders scattered, their connection to Jena’s magic severed. Some fell where they stood, their lifeless bodies crumbling to dust. Others fled, retreating into the darkness.
