It looked like Plato was on top of it and was biting down into the back of the neck. The thing was not completely dead. It was hissing and Plato was tearing at it as his wolf.

Only it wasn’t a regular one—it had pincers larger than my balled fists and black beetle wings, just like the creatures that had chased us out of the hotel. And the flying scorpion was gliding toward me.
