Spiro’s roar changed. Not fear. Rage. He snapped one up in his jaws and crushed it, then flung the ruined body toward Nyra. Seraphina burned it before it could rise. Another climbed his wing, claws digging between scales. Spiro slammed his wing against a rock, smashing the creature into paste. The paste smoked. Then it started pulling together again. “Only gold!” Astrid called, her wolf body skidding back as another creature raked its claws across her shoulder. Keiran struck the same creature from behind, driving it away from her. “I see that!” Keiran shouted.
