broken. My heart feels as though it's trying to tear its way out of my ribs. "Oh, Rhain..." Another shudder tears through him. His whole body folds over itself, his forehead hitting the ground. I nearly have it!” I howl, blinded from the spasms of agony inside me but this time, I feel no ripple.

Her body shook with her pain, and all I could do was comfort her by running my palms over her back and patting it softly. I felt so helpless! Then, she howled - a belly-aching howl - that scared my son, who bawled out in shock. Their cries echoed around us. They cry alternately. And from a distance, we hear howls of pain. Red Stone is mourning the loss of their Alpha. They were crying with their Luna. They are sharing in our family’s grief. Cirala was silenced in surprise by the alternating sounds. In time, the howling stopped, and Mother’s cries receded.
