My grin was evil, and I poured him another slug as he devoured the steak. Minutes passed, and his plate was empty, along with the alcohol bottle.

Or maybe something harder?” John leaned back. "Scotch on the rocks would be great, man.” James nodded with a grin. “A beer sounds perfect for me.” I headed into the kitchen to fix the drinks, and Vera followed right behind me, saying she’d help. As soon as we were out of earshot, I turned to her and whispered, “Okay, what exactly are you up to here?”
