“He’s impossible right now, isn’t he?”
“He’s… himself,” Trina said diplomatically.
“That’s a yes,” Mya teased, then squeezed Trina’s hand before heading out. “I’m two doors away if you need to scream. Or throw your phone at a plant. Choose the fern.”
When the door closed, the quiet came back heavier.
Trina’s phone buzzed with sympathy texts, cancellations, and one all-caps CALL ME from her mother. She set it to Do Not Disturb and picked up her camera instead. The familiar weight of it grounded her.
