The event I don't want to go to. "Ma'am, Mr. Russo is waiting for you downstairs." My birthday has never been much of a big deal, seeing as I didn’t have much to throw a fancy party for myself. At the orphanage, birthdays are celebrated once a year for all the kids, on Christmas. So my birthday was always celebrated on December 25th rather than January 24th. It wasn't much of an event, but just a cake big enough to give everyone a bite and some drinks. Either way, we were all still excited.

To think of it, there was no Travis Scott at the party. What was I thinking? She fist bumped him and nodded her greeting to me. I smiled at her. “ Where’s Damon?” He asked. “He was here a while ago. I always keep it in the box, just so it doesn’t get dirty or crushed. I didn’t leave the office door open, just unlocked, so when someone turned the handle, I looked up from my computer. I was checking emails and seeing if we had any new work orders. Nope. I only had a few emails from the command, posting things about up coming base events to boost morale. There is a Labor Day BBQ, on Labor Day. Which just happens to be my birthday. Great. And it was mandatory. A mandatory fun day, ON MY BIRTHDAY. Not how I planned on celebrating. Not that I would be celebrating. The BBQ is in 2 weeks. Hard to believe I have only been here in Florida for a week now.

I now realise I have not once seen or heard about Marcus celebrating his birthday. “Leave it, Kitten, don’t even go there.” I look at him confused. I am going there.
