I just wanted this day to end, to escape from all of it. The argument between Alpha Orion and Darius dragged on for what felt like an eternity, both of them growing more heated as the minutes passed. I sat there, feeling like a ticking time bomb, waiting for the inevitable explosion. Finally, Alpha Orion made his decision. Despite Darius’s protests, he declared that nothing could change his mind—he was making me the Luna.

I slammed my handcuffed hand against the deck. “Kael, you motherfucker,” I shouted. “Your smartass just warped us into droid territory!” “I know,” he snapped, typing fast. “You what?!” I flattened my palm and pulled at the ion-magnetic cuff hard. The device groaned and sparked as it dragged me back into place. I didn't stop–just pulled harder. I was still yanking it when I suddenly felt a soft pop. I didn't think too much of it until the second one came. Pain shot up my wrist and traveled through my arm as I slammed my back against the vending machine.

I lower myself back to the ground and walk towards him with a smile. “I’m sorry daddy, please don’t hurt him.” Ryan smiles at me as he hands Yosif back to the guards. “Ahsoka, stop. Don’t let him control you,” says Yosif. I wink at Yosif and he realizes it’s a trick. He attacks the guards, biting their necks as Dakota throws spells at the guards on her. “Both of you run now!”

They were armed with stun-batons that crackled with blue electricity. "Target acquired," a mechanical voice droned. "I hate spiders," I growled. I pushed off the wall. The gravity was heavy here, pressing me down, but I was heavier. I caught the first droid mid-air. I grabbed two of its legs. The metal was cold and slick. I pulled. It sparked and fell apart. Components scattered across the floor. I used the torso to club the second droid. The impact was a dull, heavy crunch of metal on metal. I smashed its sensor array.

She asked as she looked at him, slightly puzzled. “Yes and no,” he said as he ran his fingers through her hair and spread it out on the pillow behind her. “We are still human, just different from most humans. However, we are the same as well. I know it is hard to distinguish the hows and whys of that statement, but I know you know that already. Our kind is rare. Very rare.
