Slapshot Awakening
I need it, I need to be able to believe him.
We lie in silence for a while. The film flickers across the screen, something Ryker picked that I vaguely recognize, some kind of dark comedy. I can’t focus on it, not really, not when he’s lying next to me, not when my thoughts are still running a marathon through my head.
But then he shifts a little and mutters under his breath, “This guy kind of reminds me of you.”
I glance over. The character on screen is awkward, emotionally constipated, and making a terrible decision involving fire and a vacuum cleaner.
