Chapter 97 – The Starfield Revelation The field of stars stretched endlessly around them, shimmering faintly like a sea of fireflies frozen in time. Each star pulsed rhythmically, casting soft light across the group as they struggled to regain their footing after the fall. The air was thick with an otherworldly energy, making it hard to breathe—not from lack of oxygen, but from the sheer weight of what surrounded them. Jessica stared at the constellations above: one shaped like a wolf, the other like a witch. Between them burned the words **"Unity Is Strength,"** glowing brighter with each passing second. Her hybrid nature surged within her, responding instinctively to the celestial display.

He said softly. “I can’t,” she said as she shook her head. “I can’t think about them anymore. It has been there all night in the back of my head. I really do need to let it go. I mean, they don’t even care enough to call. They didn’t remember at all.” “Kristen.” He said as he pointed up. There were four shooting stars in the sky as she spoke, and the tear fell. “Make a wish because those probably came a long way to celebrate you.”

There are the blankets we covered ourselves up with, making a cozy little cave to snuggle the day away afterwards. I sigh. I can’t bring myself to climb into bed yet. It still smells like Sterling, and once I sleep in it without him, without even his claiming mark, that last little shred of him will be erased forever. The curse is breaking, and no punishment is good enough to make me throw away the idea of freedom now that it's closer to me than ever before. So, I'll sing for now, and simply cherish this moment of peace before its gone. She said as the tears began to fall. Maia stood there blankly, unsure of how to react. She still held the paper and she carefully folded it. “I’m gonna miss you too.” She repeated, not knowing what the words truly meant. Maia had a very limited vocabulary and missing someone wasn’t a part of it. But she knew one thing. It was going to be very lonely without Jasmine. She felt tears come to her eyes as she remembered being all alone in the attic. She was terrified that it was going to happen again.

Savoring every second that seemed to last for hours. When he finally pulled away, they just smiled at each other shyly knowing they just crossed a line where there was no return. Lola gasped when she noticed stars dropping from the sky like fireworks. “What is going on? She asked stunned while looking at the sky with wide eyes. Noah pressed himself up and turned around to look at the sky. “It’s what they call starlight night. Every once in a while, there is a night filled with falling stars. No one knows why but it is said that it is a sign from the gods to notify us that something big is coming.”

On my way home, it was darker outside than normal. No darkness compared to the dark of the desert. But luckily, my eyesight had always been good, and seeing at night had never been a problem. Not even the moon was out, but the stars were gorgeous. Then I remembered hearing that there was going to be a Blood Moon this month, when the moon is in a total lunar eclipse. It has no astrological significance, but they're beautiful… and rare. I made a mental note to set up my telescope to get a better look.

Gavin and I had been married for almost a year, but he always treated me rudely. I looked at the door, still closed as before. Maybe tonight Gavin would come home late as usual.
