Aria lunged, quick as lightning. Maya had no weapon, but she didn’t flinch. She lifted her hand and the white floor surged up, blocking Aria’s spear.
They fought, spinning through the air, weaving between memories. Julian, David, and the others rushed toward the black heart, but an army with green eyes appeared, rising out of the mist.
“Protect the heart!” Aria shouted.
Julian drew his gun. No bullets left. Just the silver locket. He hurled it at the black stone heart.
