I hear she has a fancy house in one of those popular estates and she stays alone. The field goes quiet as the cheerleaders of the other team troop in. The other part of the field erupts in a cheer. Whistles blow. Claps and hoots ripple through the stadium. They finish their routine and Carlton’s High cheerleaders take over. I push two fingers into my mouth and blow aggressively when Amelia walks in with the other cheerleaders. She is graceful in her uniform. I don’t stop clapping until they finish.

I could hear giggling, the kind of mean giggling that girls do when they are about to do something cruel. I looked up slowly. Three cheerleaders were standing on the bleachers below me. I recognized them from school but did not know their names. They were all looking at me with fake innocent smiles. "Hi, Lila," one of them said sweetly. She had red hair and freckles. "Mind if we sit here?" "There are plenty of other seats," I said quietly, gesturing to the empty bleachers around us. "But we like this spot," another girl said. This one was blonde with too much makeup. "It has the best view."

Irresistible. He's got to be at least six-foot-four, and I'm barely over five feet tall, and incredibly petite. I have to be, since I'm the girl at the top of the pyramid. I'm the girl getting tossed into the air to do flips. I'm the leader of the pack, and I'm good at what I do. Good enough, in fact, to get a full ride to mapletown College on a cheerleading scholarship. That also sets me apart from my classmates, who are all here to study and become scientists, professors, doctors, all those boring careers that brainy people do.

I could easily guess that she's the queen bee of the school, she looked so beautiful with her slim figure and straight hair which brought out the nice shape of her face but her face was caked with too much make up unlike my fat, disfigured looks. I instantly felt envious of her because of her confidence but felt grossed out.

Okay, I just sat there and stared at them with my blinking eyes because it happened really fast. Are cheerleaders always this snappy? Or do they have super speed abilities just like me? “Ummm, so... you are?” The three of them asked while pointing at me. “Oh, sorry. The name's Blair.” I answered and looked at them one by one, and their smiles were not fading. Aren't they tired of always smiling like that? Maybe it's a cheerleader thing.

I feel bad sometimes and I try to keep her mind right, but I can tell it still gets to her. It’s mostly the cheerleaders that try to mess with us, some of the jocks on the football team leave us alone, but there are a few that make derogatory comments about our body types. There’s even been one guy that has even stuck up for me, which is weird because, I know he doesn’t know who I am so why would he stick up for someone he doesn’t know.

I forgot to introduce myself… My name is Madelyn North, but everyone I know calls me Maddie. I was born in Seattle, Washington, the worst place for a teenage girl to fit in when she is different from everyone else. Everyone in my old school believed in stereotypes. The big, tall guys became jocks and varsity stars while the smaller guys were bullied.
