The last traces of warmth were fading from her skin. A nurse handed me a piece of paper. "Lynn's last words." My hands trembled as I took it. I unfolded it. Four words. Scrawled crookedly, like she'd used every last bit of strength she had. "Leave. Don't look back." The tears I'd been holding back for so long finally broke through. I pressed the note against my chest and sobbed until my whole body shook. When I walked out of the nursing home, a message from Harvey lit up my phone.

I went to look at Judy to see if she dropped as well, but she was already gone. The wolf that had bitten me was the last to fall; I could see the life draining from his eyes as he realized that he was dying. But just before he died, he narrowed his eyes at Gavin and spoke lowly words through his canines. “Traitor…”

Ives had said something to him. He had never bothered to guess what Ives had said to him. After thinking for a while, he realized what Ives had said to him at his final moment.

Iris said, hugging him from behind and speaking. Garvin smiled, turned around, and hugged her back before asking, "Were they being generous or stingy?" They were already walking back to the podium as Iris responded, "More generous than I thought." She showed Garvin the figures on her phone. Then she added, "You should check on Evangeline and her mom." Garvin nonchalantly shrugged and spoke in a monotone voice, "They are deceased." Iris, feeling a sense of unease, inquired, "What will you say to Caroline?"

If it would land true to its mark, the shot would be fatal. This would be the last scene Evan will see in this world. He had led a fascinating life. He smiled in his last moments. Though he had suffered but that only made his experience more precious. What he had accomplished this day, he grabbed with his bare hands and held on tightly until the last straw was cut. Irvin answered, lying back in his previous position. “Remember the first time we visited this place, you were in my arms and now I’m in yours.” He closed his eyes and murmured in a very low and deep voice. “I can’t think of a better place to die. As long as you’re with me, I’ll be alright.” He murmured, nuzzling his face into Zadkiel’s chest. Zadkiel frowned and opened his mouth to tell him that he wasn’t dying but Irvin beat him to it. “I know I’m dying, love. I may not feel the pain but I know I am.”

I passed out knowing that it is the last second of my life in this world. I know you'll miss me, you fucking world. I smiled before taking the last deep breath.
