It was physical, a concussive roar that hit the gunship's hull and vibrated through the glass under my palms. Below, the helipad exploded in a massive eruption of steel and fire and ocean spray as the heavy artillery tore through it. The gunship banked hard, pulling away over the storm-black water. I pressed both hands against the glass and screamed their names until my throat gave out and there was nothing below us but fire and dark ocean and the sinking structure of the rig going under.

my voice now raising in volume. “Then fucking show me,” she practically screamed at me. “What could be so bad or terrifying that you do which would leave me traumatized? What’s to say that seeing what you do, I mean actually do, doesn’t kick start something inside of me to be like you are? You have no…” I couldn’t take it anymore. The anger was fueling how I felt about her. I couldn’t love her. Love was a weakness that someone could use against me. The way she stood up to me was so fucking hot. I felt like I was going to explode.
