I leaned closer to the page. For generations strange powers have appeared within our family. Not normal mage abilities. Not even abilities that align with traditional magic. Some of them should not exist at all. A cold shiver ran down my spine. My grandmother said our family learned long ago to keep these powers hidden. Before that… people were hunted. Some of our ancestors were killed for what they could do. My breath caught. I turned the page. The abilities appeared rarely. Sometimes only once every few generations. But they were always… unusual.
