Stray Dogs Characters Novels & Stories

They cursed their bad luck under their breath, frustration boiling over. Nicole drove straight into the complex and stopped at the base of her building. Rain blurred her vision as she reached out, eager to pull Cola into her arms, but he backed away. His eyes were sharp, guarded, full of suspicion. He looked terrible. Blood stained his mouth. Half his fur was gone, and his body was covered in scars. This wasn't the first time he had been hunted like that. In a world like this, people would do anything to survive. Stray dogs didn't stand a chance.

Catherine had been on the run all through the night; she did not stop for a rest nor did she let the horse rest. They trailed through until it was dawn and still kept on walking until they got to the lake. The hyenas were sipping from the lake and Catherine approached them. They surrounded her and the horse as soon as they sighted them. Moving around as a predator preparing to devour their prey. “Stay away.” She said as she watched them.

Eros said. Luna and Jane nodded quickly hearing Eros' story. They remember it very clearly. At the time they were playing in the park, there was a stray dog that escaped from the dog shelter and happened to bite Eros. Eros really had a hard time after that. The injuries weren't that bad, but the trauma was no joke. "But, this is outrageous, you compare our cases, you compare Sam to a dog?!" Luna exclaimed annoyed. Eros scowled and glanced sinisterly at Luna.

"Sure, I admire him. I appreciate his dry sense of humor. Even though it's frustrating to lose to him, I enjoy his fierce competitiveness. But I don't love him. I'm not stupid enough to let him break my heart." Am I? Lucy stamped her foot, obviously just as frustrated with the conversation as Mattie. "You're going to take him in like one of your strays." "My strays? I don't take in strays. I don't have any pets." "I don't mean stray pets. I mean stray people." "Oookay," Mattie said. "You lost me again." "If there's anyone in need, you want to help. You get suckered into people's lives. You try to take care of them. You take in needy people like other people take in stray cats."

"Keeping an illegal breed without a leash? The owner should be jailed too!" That very day, Willow had just given birth when she came across the news. Tears streamed down her face, making Hunter's heart ache unbearably. "What's wrong? Why are you crying like this?" "Hunter, I… I just feel so sorry for the dog. Renee used it to fight for your attention, and now she's making it take the blame. They even broke its leg… It's so cruel… "They found it at an abandoned factory, which means it was a stray. A stray dog is like a child without a mother—no one to speak up for it."

It's all in the past. Those people—and everything that came with them—felt like leftovers from another life. They didn't stir a thing in me anymore. Alone, I walked through the play yard at my pet wellness center. A few boarded cats and dogs chased each other across the grass. The air felt alive. A small cat with snow-white fur and orange ears and tail padded over. It rubbed its fluffy head against my leg. It was the first stray our center ever rescued. Its coloring reminded me of Stella, so I named it Luna.

"You’re sure about this?" Gideon asked, stepping onto the platform. "These aren't exactly 'people you can reason with,' Eloise. These are strays. They’ve been living on rat meat for months. You try to pet a stray, you usually lose a finger." "I'm not trying to pet them," I said, my voice echoing off the vaulted ceiling. "I'm offering them a path." I walked forward. I could smell them. They were huddled in the maintenance tunnels.

“No, nothing. I mean, I found a stray dog, but that’s about it.” “A stray?” The way she said the words made it sound as if Gail told her she picked up a hitchhiker. “Gail, you know those animals aren’t safe. Who knows what kind of history they have. So many dogs there are scarred with trauma. They are like ticking time bombs.”

’ Stallion said all of the sudden. I look at Kayden and his mate. “Okay, you can bring that girl too in the pack but once she became wild and harm our pack members, I will kill her.” I said. That makes them smile and look at each other. The kind of feelings I’ve lost a long time ago. I move and leave them. I sense another rogue outside the door near the restroom. I open it and see a girl kneeling in front of a stray dog. She’s a rogue but there’s a feeling inside me that seems okay with her presence. She’s smiling while patting the dog’s head while giving him some left over food.

When they’re gone, I clean up the messy house some and wash the clothes that are scattered everywhere. A few mornings later, I’m dragged from sleep by the sound of the brothers’ shouts. Sliding from the sheets, I stealth-walk across the bedroom and crack the door. “We can’t take care of another stray,” Warrick roars. “She’s a puppy in a wolf’s body.” “But—” Callan starts.
