I could tell Clara and Alpha Vargus were avoiding each other, they barely stayed close or even exchanged greetings. “I hope Arwan and Bruno get here with the blood soon,” Lavanya blurted out. Alpha Vargus gawked at Lavanya, “Blood?” “We'll explain later,” Lavanya snapped back. Suddenly, Arwan and Bruno rushed in with a large quantity of human blood, “Is this enough?” He asked. “I don't know yet,” the witch announced. “Somebody get a bowl or something.” The blood was poured into a bowl and passed towards me, I glanced at the blood, it was dark red and thick.

One of its massive arms raised a plasma-broadsword to cut us out of the sky. Too late. We collided with the chest plate. Solar spun, her golden jaws snapping shut in a desperate defense, but the creature’s jagged fangs sank deep into her front shoulder blade, tearing through the golden fur.

Belle gasped and her eyes went wide. Alba, with a revolver on her gloved-hand, had been standing behind Annabella when she unexpectedly fell face down onto the hard surface of the carpeted floor. Annabella started to shiver and moan on the ground, as Alba aimed the rifle at her head without any hesitation.

The sheer kinetic force of the hurricane was trying to break her spirit, but beneath her skin, the sapphire fire of the Blue Rose flared to life, fighting the exhaustion. Suddenly, a strange, high-frequency vibration rippled through the water. Ava opened her eyes beneath the waves. Rising from the dark depths beneath her were three sleek, torpedo-like automated extraction pods from the fortress. Warriors shielded their faces as sparks snapped through the air. “Ava!” I forced my way through the storm, my claws digging into the earth to anchor myself. “Look at me! It’s Lucas!” She didn’t look. Then lightning burst from her fingers, slamming into a dummy and exploding it into splinters. Another strike ripped into the ground, splitting the dirt apart.

All pretense of control vanished, consumed by a singular, primal need to stop her pain. I moved, my power flaring around me, ready to tear this insane connection to shreds. "Don't you dare!" Ava’s voice was sharp, a whip-crack of unexpected authority. "If you interfere now, the backlash could shatter her mind!" "She's bleeding!" I roared, the sound echoing off the obsidian walls. Did this foolish woman not see? A physical wound was a line that had been crossed. A price too high. I would rather face a thousand fractured realities than allow one more drop of her blood to be spilled.

By now, the car was rolling all over the road and I knew soon, dad would be closing up on us. But Ava wasn't through yet. She grabbed the steering and lurched back into the road. A running van hit the car nose but it didn't stop Ava. She tried all means to regain balance but I would be a fool to allow that. I bite her upper arm till I tasted her blood on my lips. Ava screamed and left the steering again. This time, I kicked her face with a strength I don't know where it came from. Ava's face flushed with blood as she groaned and hit her head against the car glass. It was clear she had lost her powers cos she was bleeding so badly from hitting her head on the steering.

Her body swayed, and I can feel the life force draining from her through our bond. "Oscar, catch her!" I yelled, my heart pounding in my ears. Oscar dove, managing to catch Ava's limp form just before she hit the ground. Her skin was ashen, lips tinged blue. "What have you done?" I snarled at Sera, fury coursing through my veins. But there was no time for answers.
