We stood still for a few seconds, both of us uncertain whether to approach or just observe from a distance and report this to Andrew.
Before us now stood a giant tree. Without needing to look elsewhere, I was sure this tree was the largest—and also the oldest—one in the forest. It towered so high that I had to tilt my head back to see the top, and even then, I couldn’t see the end of it.
But it wasn’t the size of the tree that stunned Leana and me, but something wrapped around it. The climbing plant that spiraled around it, resembling stacked flowers, emitted a faint purple glow.
