I was not against nature but…. This forest needed to be wiped out. I yelled a powerful scream and diced the roots at its feet which held it in its place. A tree’s strength came from its roots. The tree spread its branches towards my sword, to stop it. But I created another sword with the light emerging out of me.

It was only when I noticed that my surroundings were darker I snapped back to reality and looked around. Oh… I looked at the dark forest and realized I was at the part where there were many natural trees. “Wow,” I whispered. These trees look so much better than the other ones. Is it because they had a natural growth? They’re thicker and feel more alive. I turned my head and my gaze fell upon the most majestic tree out of all. An oak tree. It was the thickest and biggest one of all the trees in the forest and its branches were spreading horizontally. It looked really cool and out of place. It made me wonder something.

It was captivating and extremely scarce. Since it was my mother's favourite wood, there was a small section of the forest surrounding the palace set aside for growing it. However, it took at least a hundred years for the tree to mature enough to be cut down for timber. It was one of the slowest-growing trees in the Realm. The other was the Moonshadow elm.

Something that will last. Something that will not die." He thought about it. "Oak." "Oak?" "Oaks live for hundreds of years. They grow slow. They get big. They do not die easily." Ben nods to my prize. "No. It just felt right." Part of me is hesitant to know the answer. "Why?" "That was the first tree you and I-I mean my wife planted when we bought this land. It is a Yew tree." "We had Yew trees in my native land." Kiarr's shoulder brushes mine as we walk. "It's a powerful tree and poisonous and commands respect. Every part of it can kill you except the fruit - but even the seed within it is poisonous." I scowl, removing the branch from underneath my arm. Thankfully, I have on the school uniform along with the blazer. "Then maybe I should throw this one out and get another."

The rays of light from the three daystars of the planet sprinkled down their canopies and reflected a bright emerald sheen like precious jewels crowded inside a treasure box. These trees are called the Emerald tree by the locals and visitors of this place, but their real name was termed by the ancients as the mother tree, mainly because it towers all the living beings in the Emerald forest. The oldest Mother tree in existence towers over one hundred meters, and the young saplings range over five to fifteen meters tall. All the weird, unknown and common living and non-living things in the forest could only reach the lower parts of its trunks, and resemble little kids in front of their mothers

I know it. After more minutes of walking and the sun tinting the sky an orange hue, we reach a small opening in the woods. The trees formed a full circle around us, but a tall, amazonian tree was standing proud and tall in the middle. It was the tallest tree of all the tall trees in the forest. I had to crane my neck until it nearly snapped just to see its highest peak. The grass was damp, and there was a foul smell in the air. “The smell of death reeks in this tree,” Fenrir voiced my thoughts as he circled the tree with a scowl. “The plague marked it. It’s almost spelled out in the bark.”

Finally, we came to a clearing. In the center stood an enormous tree stump, easily ten feet in diameter. Even in the dim light, I could see the pain in Patricia’s eyes as she approached it. “This redwood has been cultivated by generations of men in our family,” she explained, running her fingers along what remained of the dark reddish bark. “The care of it is always passed down to the current Alpha. It’s been a symbol of our pack’s strength and longevity for centuries.”

Andre contracts griffin but with mild tone of voice. “That’s right andre, The iroko is majestic.” Carlton turns to him. “But the oak tree is also like the iroko. They are both strong and have unique qualities. The only difference is that the iroko can last 1500 years while the oak can only last like 600 years. But even at that, none is superior to the other. They are both kings. So Griffin is right too, yeah?”

I looked ahead, past Leana, and froze. What was that? We stood still for a few seconds, both of us uncertain whether to approach or just observe from a distance and report this to Andrew. Before us now stood a giant tree. Without needing to look elsewhere, I was sure this tree was the largest—and also the oldest—one in the forest. It towered so high that I had to tilt my head back to see the top, and even then, I couldn’t see the end of it. But it wasn’t the size of the tree that stunned Leana and me, but something wrapped around it. The climbing plant that spiraled around it, resembling stacked flowers, emitted a faint purple glow.
