Ares's face lit up. "That's a beautiful idea. What kind of tree?"
"I don't know," I admitted. "Something strong. Something that will last for generations."
"An oak," Ares suggested. "They grow slowly but live for centuries. And they're nearly impossible to kill once they take root."
"Like us," I said with a smile.
"Exactly like us."
We discussed where to plant it, settling on a spot near the eastern wall where it would get plenty of sun. Ares promised to have the groundskeepers prepare the soil, and we could plant it together once the baby was born.
