We should have slowly came back to our normal tones not instantly, that was like kicking her back to reality. Lucas absorbs this, shoulders slumping a little as he processes it. “It was like the way she shut down was different. Like she went cold and just… dropped away,” he mutters, looking at her with a mix of guilt and worry. I nod, understanding his thoughts because I know subdrop all too well. Subdrop—it’s like a free fall after the high, an emotional crash where everything can feel too raw, too heavy.
