Emilia was already in the car outside, honking the horn impatiently.
I ran downstairs, grateful to escape my parents' presence. I smiled and hurried outside, slamming the car door shut behind me. Emilia drove off, and we sat in silence for a while before she sighed. "I'm sorry for taking out my frustrations on you," Emilia apologized, her voice sincere. I nodded, gazing out the window, feeling disappointed that our relationship was being affected by the mating issue. But deep down, I knew Emilia had always had feelings for Nathaniel, even if she tried to deny it.
