Dominic's arms are wrapped around my shoulders, steadying me, his expression twisted with shock. I glance back up at the Archangel. "I couldn't make it stop." "I know," the Archangel whispers, brows pulling together. "It was the only way I could determine what we are dealing with," he admits. "The demon has found a way to infect your subconscious mind." Oh my God... The Archangel tilts his head, studying my face with sympathy. "This demon is powerful and will deceive you before you realize it," he warns, and I blink, repeating his words in my head.

Esme shakes her head while some of the other women giggle as if the answer to my question should be obvious. "Goodness me, you know nothing, do you?" Esme stops cleaning the angel and approaches me, pointing at who I think must be Azrael, even though I have yet to confirm it. "That angel over there is Azrael, the angel who appeared out of nowhere two weeks ago. He protects our town from evil, and we pay him by taking care of him after his battles." I take a deep breath with my eyes locked on Azrael. My heart is experiencing tiny, bittersweet flutters. "So it is you..."
