A week later, I was finally discharged from the infirmary. On the way home, old memories began to flood my mind. I met Charles when my father brought me to his pack for a negotiation. While he was in the meeting, I wandered off into the territory to hunt alone. But I got lost—and worse, I was followed by a group of rogue wolves. Fear gripped me as I faced those feral beasts. I was completely outmatched. Just when I thought it was the end, a massive wolf leapt in front of me and drove them away.

I was learning, adapting, surviving. As the twenty-fourth hour approached, I emerged again. Mud streaked my skin, blood crusted on my arms and legs. I crouched in the brush, listening. The white wolf’s presence was faint, watching, perhaps respecting me now. My body wanted to collapse, my mind begged for relief, but I couldn’t stop. I had survived. I had adapted. I had learned to move like the wolf, to think like the hunter, to survive like an Alpha, even without Killian. The forest was quiet, but I could feel movement. Something watching. Something waiting. My wolf snorted. “You’re stronger than I gave you credit for.”

“I spent probably the better part of a month looking for this little monster. Just when I thought it had left the area, it killed some more animals. Another week of looking for it, and I found it. Or it found me.” He shook his head. “It was like... one second, I was alone, and the next second, the sand beneath my feet was moving, trying to pull me down as this thing rose up. I managed to leap away, just out of reach of its claws. If I’d been any slower, I’d have been breakfast.” He took another sip of water. “I had never run from an animal before, and I never have since. Let's finish the cake and then get ready for our evening company."

He tried to attack me but his strength was poor from starvation, where it was my advantage, i pushed him down the valley and let him die in the pits.

' I lamented. 'Oh!' I was surprised as I watched her move so fast after checking her phone, like the languid, sultry movements from earlier were merely an illusion. "Who is she hurrying for?' I wondered possessively as I felt myself being suffocated with fury to the unknown "rival wolf." I was alerted when my wolf whimpered in distress and my heart felt empty when I realized she's walking away, walking away from us.. ----End of Chapter One----

With a burst of strength, I broke free, using the memories of my father's courage and bravery to give me the strength I needed. But as I tried to make my escape, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching, and I knew that the hunters were coming for me. With a deep breath, I summoned all of my strength, ready to face whatever came my way. My heart pounded in my chest as the hunters burst into the room, their guns trained on me. But I was ready for them. With a fierce growl, I leapt towards them, my body shifting into that of a wolf. The hunters fired their weapons, but I was too fast, dodging the bullets and tackling one of the hunters to the ground.

It was like fuel to my wolf. With a final burst of speed, I lunged at the first wolf, my jaws closing around his hind leg. He let out a yelp of pain, his momentum disrupted as he tumbled to the ground. Without pause, I moved on to the second rogue, my teeth sinking into his neck, pinning him to the ground. He struggled and thrashed, but I held on with a fierce determination. The forest seemed to hold its breath as the rogues' struggles grew weaker, their attempts to escape becoming feeble.

Zephyr pushed through my flesh until I was covered in fur and could feel him standing under the sun, taking control from me. I rose from the sand, and that was when the wolves behind me began to morph. The rogues leaped at once, aiming with a precise strike. The first wolf’s fangs scraped my shoulder, but I twisted, clamping my jaws on his throat. One jerk, and his body fell limp. The second lunged from the side, claws flashing, but I met him head-on. My paw slammed into his chest, cracking ribs, and he flew back into the dirt. The third tried circling me, aiming for my hind leg, but my teeth caught him mid-air. Blood sprayed as I tore him apart.
