She clenched her fists and said, “I understand.” Only then did the maid let go of her, but still followed her closely to the dining room. The moment Emma stepped inside, her eyes met Damien’s. The memory of that horrifying night immediately resurfaced. Emma forced herself to suppress her disgust and approached the table.

We kept walking, listening to the waves fill the space between us. “What did you two talk about?” I finally asked, curious what she had said that changed Emma’s mood earlier. Emma glanced at me, raising a brow, a small teasing smile on her lips. “Why? Do you have a secret you’re afraid she told me?” I smiled. “As if I do. You already know everything about me. Marry me as soon as you can, Noel. Please." With that, she stood up and walked into the house.
