A man like Frank did not deserve it at all. … After a full day of exhaustion, Summer did not know how she managed to swallow that dry, hard bun. Nor did she know how she forced down that bowl of cold water. By the time she returned to the basement, Dora, Fiona, and Mrs. Mendes had already gone back. The instant Summer stepped inside, a basin of water was dumped over her head. Splash. My skin feels too tight, like something inside me is trying to push through. I dig my nails into my palms, using the pain to ground myself.

Summer asked herself, her heart beat slowly became normal again. Her thoughts were interrupted by a sudden knock on the door. "Come in" She muttered and slowly sat down on her bed. "Oh my dear summer, are you not getting ready for school?" Ma'am Katherine asked walking into the room with a displeased look on her face. "School? I don't what to go to school" Summer answered clearly not interested with the idea of school. She wasn't ready for her school problems. "Oh my dear, it will be your first day in a new school"
