Erica had spoiled me. The facials had been lovely. My skin was glowing and bright and so smooth. My body was light as a feather from the hour and a half long full body massage with hot stone treatments. My fingers and toes had been decorated with bright pink nail polish. Erica had black polish, which was much more her speed and went well with her red and black outfit. My nails went with my yellow sundress and silver sandals.

A golden clasp sat against each of my hips, holding the fabric together as it split into a long slit that trailed down both my legs. Dark, smoky makeup ringed my eyes, followed by lipstick a deep, dark shade of red. I lifted my hand and inspected my nails. A bit of magic helped me file them into sharp points. Smiling, I turned my gaze to the beams of sunlight streaming through the balcony doors. What a beautiful day to crash a wedding.

The sun was high, the sky a soft sweep of pale blue, and for once—Celeste didn’t feel like she was running from something. Victoria had made sure of that.
