Dante held me as if I might vanish, but I no longer had the strength to push him away. Professor Shaw came to my side. “Aria, can you hear me?” I looked at her through the blur. “My baby…” Her expression changed, but her voice stayed steady. “We’re taking you to the institute medical center now.” As they lifted me onto the stretcher, Dante tried to follow. Professor Shaw stopped him with one look. “You had your chance to protect her.” The last thing I saw before darkness took me was Dante standing in the hall, covered in my blood, while the wedding ring box lay open at his feet.

Kieran’s face turns stony and impassive before he spoke, “Because she also had me down as the father of her 6-month-old.”

He asked, fixing his eyes intensely on me. “Well Marcel saved my life. I don't know how he did it. I mean he was so fast that he rescued me from the glimpse of death. That truck was moving so fast and it was so close to me I thought for sure it was going to crush me but within a second I found myself in Marcel's arms. I still don't understand how he did it but all I know is that if not for him I wouldn't be standing and breathing right now," I told him but Eden didn't look too surprised.
