It had woken up later than usual. “Come on, I want to show you something.” Zane said as soon as I woke up. it was like he had been waiting for me. I frowned but followed him anyway. We went toward my room but stopped in my tracks when I saw the damage. The roof was gone. I glanced at Zane. “It happened last night.”

Instead, he scanned the room, already cataloguing who was dead, who might still pose a threat, what message this blood would send. The shift was subtle but brutal: Zach wasn’t just mine anymore. He wasn’t just the boy who’d loved me recklessly, who’d chosen me over the name he was born into. He was something more, something larger. A leader. A weapon. A man who would never again be allowed to choose softness over survival. And that terrified me more than the bodies at our feet. Gia’s voice cut through the silence from the doorway. “We need to move the survivors. Now.”

In my past life, the zombie outbreak happened while I was on my way to take the exam. I hid in a car, surviving two days without food or water, until Shawn rescued me. They were just so accustomed to sounds and scents beyond levels that he couldn't imagine. He dropped one of the guards that had grown a little bit concerned, he needed for this to be clean. His plan was perfect, he'd thought of every possible problem and had created a contingency for it. He needed for this to work, if it did, they were one step closer to evading extinction. They were alas, the Survivors of the Sun and they would survive death if they had to. He reached the top floor faster than he'd expected. He was moving at a physical defining speed, blitzing through the distance like they were just meaningless to him.

He looked up at me, completely dazed, his hand automatically reaching up to steady the baby resting on his chest. "What... what happened?" Zane croaked, his voice raw. "You died," I breathed, letting out a laugh that sounded more like a sob. "And your daughter saved you." Before we could even process the miracle, a loud, explosive crash boomed from the valley pass. The heavy steel doors leading into the main bunker shook violently. The remaining Zunter forces had just breached the inner courtyard. They were right outside.

Everyone's expression was blank so I was forced to explain the unique madness I had thought of. I stand in front. "Listen everyone. Since Mr. Gunford wants a theme for the anniversary, I think... The zombie theme game is good. It's a survival game just like Z-Land from Yuno." "What? It's a game?" Benedict asked as if the boredom was gone. "Yes! Like Manila Outbreak! It's a chasing game with tons of participants." "Care to tell us the details?" asked President Gunford. I explained to everyone the whole mechanics of the activity. The vaccine couldn't have been able to help him anymore." In my past life, I'd died early, when the zombies first appeared. I never lived long enough to see the disaster end. This time, I was rescued, and I saw Sarah again. She had survived, too. "Are you okay? These past few weeks must've been really hard," she said, sounding concerned.

A tear falls and she slaps Mark and gives him a hug. “I really dislike you right now,” Daniela says through tears. “I know,” Mark replies through a small smile. The elders are returning and Derek video calls the alphas. Miss Kat sets up a buffet of snacks and drinks for everyone before retreating to the kitchen. Everyone is silent. There is no greeting among everyone, no side conversations, just dreary looks of despair. “Thank you all for returning and thank you alphas for joining us. We need to organize a rescue attempt. Damon I am sorry to tell you but Zuri was killed by the rogues. We received two video last night after the attacks.”

I ignored him and stared at Zavier because it was obvious that he knew something that I did not. "You said whoever survives the longest in the realm of life and death right?" I asked just to make sure that I heard him right. Zavier quickly spoke before Alexander could. "Whoever gets wounded first. We don't want you to get hurt." Zaviers words would have had me narrowing my eyes because that gave me a disadvantage but his smirk from earlier had me thinking. He was not more powerful than me I knew he had to be bluffing. He most likely knew the outcome and that was it.
