“Eyes forward,” Mira whispered to her sister. “Don’t show them weakness.”
Kira swallowed, nodding, though her gaze kept flicking nervously toward the ring of Hollow warriors.
Then Serana appeared. She moved through the camp like a flame through dry grass, every head turning as she passed. Her braids jingled with bone charms, her eyes hard as ice.
“Mira,” she called. “Your first trial.”
