The moon hung low in the night sky, casting an ethereal glow on the deserted street. Shadows danced along the pavement as I navigated through the dimly lit alley, heart pounding with each step. The echo of footsteps behind me intensified, quickening the pulse of suspense that had enveloped the air. Glancing over my shoulder, I caught a fleeting glimpse of a mysterious figure cloaked in darkness, their intentions veiled in uncertainty. It was well lit but eerily quiet, I bet if a pin dropped to the floor, the sound would be loud. I carefully read the numbers on each door as I walked past it. A few steps further, I arrived in front of his door. My knees were threatening to give out and right there, I started questioning my decisions.
