Suzan watched her from across the counter.
The moment Aria stepped out of the kitchen, walking quickly down the hallway, Suzan’s expression changed. The softness disappeared. She moved fast, practiced. From her pocket, she pulled out the small vial, unscrewed it, and tipped a measured amount into the food Aria had just prepared.
She stirred once. Twice.
No hesitation.
This wasn’t the first time.
And in her mind, it wouldn’t be the last.
She wiped the spoon clean and returned everything to its place, already imagining runways, flashing lights, cameras calling her name. One step closer. That was how she saw it. Always one step closer.
