I just nod, slow and careful. Questions crowd my mouth. Rules. Limits. Truths I’m not sure I want to hear. But before I can speak, his mouth slides down my ear and stops at my neck. He sucks hard. Then his teeth bite. A sharp squeal slips out of me. “What are you doing?” His tongue replaces his teeth, slow and warm, soothing the sting. “Marking you.” My eyes lift to the mirror. A deep red bruise blooms against my skin, bold and impossible to miss.

Our bodies found their sweet release together. Lucien laid down beside me and I quickly got up heading to the bathroom shutting the door behind me. I could feel the connection between us growing stronger. Looking in the mirror in front of me I studied my mark, the bite wasn’t what I had expected.
