There were sandwiches packed from top to bottom, chicken, tuna, ham, egg, vegetable, cheese, practically every flavor the shop sold. I let out an exasperated laugh. "Who buys an entire sandwich shop?"
I glanced toward the bedroom door, then toward the windows, as if someone might suddenly burst in and catch me. When I was certain I was alone, I carefully picked up one sandwich. "Just one bite," I whispered to myself. "Only because I need strength."
