To stop was to die, and I wanted her to know what that fear meant.
And I wanted her to feel that.
The way I had been fighting for mine for years.
She stumbled. Her legs gave out.
She crumbled to the ground.
I exhaled through my nose, slowly making my way toward her. I bent down, my fingers brushing the wood of the bow beside me, and knocked an arrow.
I aimed and fired, earning screams from the crowd.
“She was warned!” Kiara yelled to silence them.
The arrow sliced through the air, missing her by mere inches. It landed just in front of her knees, the sharp tip grazing her skin, leaving a thin, red line behind.
