I felt my heart rate increase the closer I grew to the lobby, hoping desperately that I'd catch sight of a straggler wolf or the scent of another who fell behind. Like usual, the narrow halls opened up into the wide room of the lobby and I almost had a heart attack of relief when I saw a large mass of werewolves scattered around the room, impatiently checking watches or tapping their feet on the white marble floor. His piercing eyes scanned me briefly before settling on Tesla. “Who’s this?” he asked, nodding in my direction. “She’s from Henry,” Tesla said, her voice laced with disdain. “Sent to plead his case.” The rogue alpha’s gaze hardened as he stepped closer to me. “And what exactly does Henry think he’ll gain from this?”
