I gulp and find Jeanne's eyes on me. She shakes her head. A bead of a tear rolls down her cheek. Then she reaches for the gun in Glitter Shoes' hand. "Jeanne! No!" I barely recognize my voice when the bullet fires. BAM!

I clung to the hope that perhaps, in the release of my tears, I would find some semblance of healing, some semblance of peace. The tears continued to flow, each one carrying with it a fragment of my shattered dreams. I mourned for the life I had once known, the vibrant spirit that had now been eclipsed by uncertainty and fear. The weight of my tears felt both cleansing and exhausting, as if with each droplet, I shed a layer of my anguish.

I gently fell to my knees, the numb feeling out weighing any emotion that I wanted to feel. I pulled my sword from her chest and laid it on the ground as I held her close to me. I didn’t even know what to do. I had killed countless men before, so why did this feel different? She was an enemy to the throne, so why was there an aching throbbing feeling pricking away at my heart. Why do I shed so many tears for the enemy, for the woman who killed my own mother? Deep down I wanted to scream, yell into the sky how life was so unfair. But all I could do was silently clutch at the woman who helped raise me all these years.

Finally, the tears came. Hot. Angry. Humiliating. They poured out of her, silent sobs that shook her shoulders. She hated it. Hated giving her enemies this satisfaction, even if they would never see her like this.
