Though he had a peaceful look when he finally slept but I knew the nightmare would finally come.
Zone stood at the entrance of the tent, watching us with a pained expression. “He shouldn’t have had to do that,” he said quietly.
“No, he shouldn’t have,” I agreed. “But he’s stronger than we give him credit for.”
Zone nodded. “This plague, these attacks… it seems we are just fighting a losing battle.”
I didn’t know what to say to him. All I could do was to hope that somewhere, somehow we could manage to put this whole madness in check before it wiped out every one of us.
