“Oh, I don’t know if I can top you accidentally spilling coffee on your boss!” Daniel chuckled. “Come on, try me!” “Well…,” she hesitated, then laughed, “there was this one time I tripped at work while carrying a huge stack of files. They went flying everywhere, and everyone just stopped to stare. I was mortified!” Daniel burst out laughing, and his laugh was so genuine that Sophia couldn’t help but laugh too. “Okay, that’s definitely on the list of ‘greatest hits’! But, hey, at least you didn’t spill coffee on anyone’s lap!”

Shared Stories As the afternoon progressed, the family shared stories, memories, and laughter. Ashley recounted a humorous tale from Damien’s childhood, drawing giggles from the children, who listened intently. Lawrence followed with a story about a misadventure he had once had during a business trip, the delivery so animated that even Daxton’s rare chuckle broke through. “I had no idea Grandpa could be funny,” Aria whispered to May, eyes wide with wonder. “Even the serious ones have their moments,” May replied with a soft smile.

I had to be careful because my jerky movements hurt me. "Oh wow, you are very funny," I told him. "You must be one of those boys who grew up hearing ancestral stories from their grandparents under the tree." But he was not smiling at all, and his face was straight. The laugh left me. "Y...you are not serious, are you?" I stuttered.

"In the meantime, we can still have some fun. How about a couple of stories? Well, we have plenty of funny and interesting stories from our time here." I gave them an appreciative smile and looked up at them. "How about you guys tell me a story? That might keep my mind off stuff." Aurelia smiled and began recounting an incident from the past. "Well, there was this one time that one of the visiting pack leaders got his foot stuck in a bucket. He was trying to act all serious and dignified, but he was hopping around like a rabbit. It was so hard not to laugh!" I chuckled, my mind conjuring up the scene. "That does sound funny."

"Like I said, I know a lot of stories, but I always want to hear from the horse's mouth." I swallowed. "I mean, there's nothing to talk about if you've heard it all." "I disagree." He said. "My father lies sometimes, you know" I smiled because I knew he was only trying to make me feel better. "Maybe I'll feel better after some food," I told him. "Stories are best told when one is filled" "And drunk," he added. "I think we both need an introduction drink," he said. "I agree" I responded with a smile as he rang a bell and signalled to a staff member.

I laugh recalling the story from my childhood. Luke has always been the jokester of the family. “Man, I want to meet this kid” He leans back in the chair, crossing his arms. “Oh yeah? Well hopefully soon” I half smile. “Come on, you have to have a story about Tom” I laugh, placing my head in my hands. “Hmm, where should I start” He jokes sitting up again. “Go with the craziest one” I laugh. I can only imagine what the craziest thing Tom has done.

Lily's carefree spirit was contagious, bringing a newfound brightness to my room. As Lily and I settled into our conversation, we delved into the world of jokes and stories about Jude and Jade. Lily, with her infectious enthusiasm, shared amusing anecdotes that painted vivid pictures of her older siblings. "So, Katie," Lily began with a mischievous grin, "did you know that Jade once tried to teach Jude to dance? It was like watching a giraffe attempting ballet!" I burst into laughter, picturing the scene in my mind. Lily continued to spin tales, weaving humorous narratives about family dinners, inside jokes, and the playful rivalry between Jude and Jade.

It's as though we were in our own little bubble, unaware of the world around us. At times, Alex points out something funny that happened to him at work, and I find myself doubling over with laughter. I tried to imagine him in that position but I couldn't, but as he continued, I found myself vividly seeing if. He has a way of telling stories that always gets me in stitches. And I can't help but reciprocate by sharing some of my own comical mishaps. "Oh my God, that's hilarious. Some people are just so sick." I laughed out loud.

And I can't be less proud of her. The rest of our dinner time is filled with us eating together and my mum and I laughing at Cathy's hilarious jokes and stories, particularly at the story she told us of how she had to throw bagel bread at an annoying colleague of hers so that she can grab his attention to work. I really tried so hard not to picture the scenerio in my head, but I just could not stop myself from laughing at the imagination. Thank God I had already swallowed my food before then.

Max smiles, “You build blanket forts, you tell jokes, you know how to ballroom dance.” “I don’t tell jokes,” I explain. “Chad said you do. Lucy told him some of the jokes. It made them laugh,” Max replies. Curious, he asks, “Could I hear one?” I shake my head, “It was corny jokes to cheer her up is all. It was, “Why did the scarecrow win an award? Because he was outstanding in his field.” Things most kids hear on a playground.” Max looks disappointed. Taking a deep breath, I say, “A cheeseburger walks into a bar and orders a beer. The bartender says, “Sorry, we don’t serve food here”.”
