Jace POV I walk in with them, heading straight for the normal club. It’s quiet. Too quiet. “Where are your customers?” I ask Dante, glancing around the empty space. “It’s closed for now,” Dante replies. “With the wedding tomorrow, we shut it down until after everything’s over. The strip club doesn't reopen until after the weddings either.” I nod. Makes sense. “How are things?” Dante looks at me with that knowing expression. “You’ve barely called.”

The door that should have swung open with the jingle of a bell was chained and padlocked. I pressed my face to the cold glass, cupping my hands around my eyes to see inside. Empty booths sat in silence, a single, forgotten mug remained abandoned on the counter as if waiting to be picked up again. Overturned chairs lay on their sides like dead insects, legs pointing at odd angles. The neon sign that had flickered Frankie’s for thirty years hung dead against the brick. A notice plastered across the door explained why. SOLD PROPERTY. PERMANENT CLOSURE. NO TRESPASSING.
