Tennessee Wraith Chasers Novels & Stories

The pack gasped, their weapons raised, but fear flickered in their eyes, even the Ironclaw allies, who’d seen my power break their curse. ‎ ‎“What are they?” I whispered, my voice trembling but steady, my wolf ready, the warmth blazing hot. ‎ ‎Rex’s growl was fierce, his body tensing. “Wraiths,” he said, his voice low, grim. “The curse’s final defenders. Your blood woke them, Talia. They’re here for you.” ‎

They carried no rifles — only shock batons, blade gauntlets, and wrist-mounted pulse charges. Their leader, taller than the rest, raised a hand. Instantly, every lamp within ten meters died. Ethan’s jaw tightened. “That’s their commander,” he whispered. “The one Lorren called The Wraith.” The Wraith tilted his head slightly, almost curious, almost amused. Then he pointed directly at the tower. At Ethan. A pulse charge launched from his wrist — straight toward the parapet. “MOVE!” Alexander shouted. The blast hit the railing, sending shrapnel exploding outward. Ethan and Jun dove, rolling behind the stone buttress.

The air was still cold, the temperature having dropped significantly due to the Echo Wraith. The Echo Wraith is a haunting presence within the Cavern of Eternal Echoes, a place known for its labyrinthine complexity and the disturbing resonance of every sound. It glides silently through the caverns, leaving behind a trail of maddening echoes. These echoes are warped, amplified distortions that play on the deepest insecurities and fears of those who hear them. They take on the voices of the damned, whispering hidden regrets and unconfessed sins, often blending them with a cacophony of falsehoods to disorient and unsettle their victims.

He took a step forward— And the ground beneath them trembled. A deafening howl split the air, primal and enraged. Shadows shifted in the ruins below, moving unnaturally fast. Then, from the darkness, they emerged. Wraiths. Not quite werewolf, not quite human—twisted beings caught between forms, their bodies flickering as if reality struggled to contain them. Their eyes burned with unnatural fire, and their snarls carried the weight of the damned. Bram drew his blade. “I hate this place.” Freya’s daggers gleamed as she fell into a ready stance. “We hold our ground.”

“Let’s look for those two.” We started looking for Garox and Etheal inside the house until we decided to go out and search the barn and field. Nix and I have been trying to reach them over the mindlink and using my abilities to track their scents. When we didn’t have any luck finding them, I asked Nix if we should wake up Raphal, Ruby, Nathan, and Tiffany to help us search for the kids. But Nix said we shouldn’t because Raphal, Nathan, and Ruby will be training the fighters at dawn while Tiffany doesn’t want her baby girl to make another dreadful noise in the middle of the night.

As she left the alley, she suddenly screamed and fled. Felix had appeared. "Damn it! I got so caught up in training I forgot you appear randomly when entering Corpse Town." He picked up the two black bags and headed toward the hall. Almost immediately after he left, the woman reappeared and resumed dragging the prisoner. … Two months later, excitement filled the Maximus family compound. Tyler had finally tamed 100 wraiths, which meant they could return home. "Tyler, is 100 wraiths your limit?" Tyler nodded. "Yes, Elder Dean. I can feel it. Not even one more is possible."

“Hit it, Convergence! Now!” I roar, lunar light pouring from me, a beam of silver fire that slams into the wraith. It shrieks, its form dissolving into ash, but the altar’s pulse surges, a signal flare to Voren’s forces. My new sight catches them—Syndicate mercenaries, Shadowwalkers, massing beyond the Veil, drawn by the wraith’s call. Cassia clutches her side, blood seeping through her fingers, her grin weak but fierce. “Nice shot, kid. Now… what about him?” She nods at Renn, still sobbing, and the altar, still pulsing.

But Victoria was nothing like her, and that was what pulled me to her. Her strength and confidence put me on edge and sent sparks flying in my brain. Outside, I slid into the car, and the driver shut it after me. Taking out my phone, I dialed a number I had called an unhealthy number of times in the last few months. “Any news?” I barked. “Not exactly, sir. We haven't found anything.” I slammed the phone against my shoulder. “Why am I paying you if you're this incompetent? Is New York so big you can't find one woman?”

“Glad you’re such a tactician. Thought grief might’ve dulled your edge.” I exhaled through my nose. “It tried.” She turned, barking sharp orders. Her pack scrambled with speed and precision. Even in grief, they obeyed. Even with fear thick in their throats, they formed ranks. By the time I stepped forward, the Wraiths were already charging. One came first. It was fast — faster than most of these wolves could handle — its limbs too long, too many joints bending in the wrong direction. Its howl sounded unholy, disorienting even.

Max was mine. “The information I gave you was accurate. I was coming over to discuss recent developments with you. This girl is being placed on a chopping board and served to us by Noctua. If the file I have in my hands is the truth, then she might be a pawn in a plan much bigger than we thought.” I backed into my chair and stared thoughtfully into my father’s still-red eyes. “Now, my two questions for you are how are vampire hunters still roaming this earth when you promised the entire congregation that they had been dealt with after Mother’s death, and who the fuck is Edward Ravenwood?”
