Endings everywhere shuddered. Elyndra’s voice cut sharp. “This is contagion. An unended ending destabilizes others.” The presence beneath reality surged forward. ‘Exhibit confirmed,’ it declared. ‘Immediate removal of dual-consent configuration required.’ Lyra planted her feet. “You don’t get to use him as proof!”

With the little sounds I could hear, there was a battle of bullet exchange not too far from us.
