He was speaking openly now, exactly the kind of opening I had been hoping for. “And your Alpha, is he already mated?” I asked casually, keeping my tone light as I glanced out the window. “His name is Jermain, right? I researched Woodcrest in the Werewolf Media Network archives. I always do that before entering a pack.” “Yes, my Alpha is fully mated,” he answered proudly. “Last time we spoke on the phone, he told me he marked his mate, and she’s now living with him in the pack. "That guy you called a 'son of a bitch' just so happens to be the most terrifying Alpha you've ever met. He owns the largest territory among us in the United States, and he was even rendered the title Alpha of All Alphas, yet you shamelessly acted all strong and mighty in his presence. I gave out countless invitations to his pack so I could get to offer him a partnership, and I was planning as soon as I get close to him enough, I'll kill him without warning. But that opportunity was wasted because of your naivety," I was stunned, unable to speak a word to my father and could only stare straight at him with my mouth open. If you found your mate, why do you still want me dead? “Because my mate doesn’t like you and doesn’t think you should be the one on the council representing the cat breeds. I happen to agree with him.” “Good to know. So who is this mate of yours?” “He is the Alpha of the panther pack. You know the one where the alpha and Luna were killed by rogues along with some of their pack.” “I thought the Alpha of that pack was a female and her mate was away in the fairy kingdom? I also heard that she got away along with her twins.” “You calling my mate a liar?” “Yes, I am. Because you and I both know that I studied that pack in case
