Then he stepped back, satisfied. “Do not embarrass me,” he added before turning away. I left the room on unsteady legs. As I walked down the corridor, my mind felt numb. Everything inside me hurt, but I forced myself to keep moving. I could not afford to break down now. Voices drifted toward me as I neared the kitchen. Two girls stood near the doorway, whispering. They had not noticed me. “I heard the Alpha King has never been married,” one said. “Oh, he was married once,” the other replied. “I heard his mate died mysteriously. Since then, he has not shown interest in marrying any other woman.”

She spotted him and her expression cycled through surprise and concern. "Your letter said emergency," Alice said by way of greeting. "What's wrong?" "Everything." Jax gestured for her to sit on a fallen log. She did, and he settled beside her. Close enough that their shoulders almost touched. "The Alpha King is destroying his citadel looking for his mate. The pack is fracturing. And I need information about a girl named Winter Moon."

“Nothing can change the facts. You were sent here by Jax to help destroy us… and you did.” Each word hits me like a physical blow. My wolf whimpers and retreats deeper into my consciousness, unable to bear the pain radiating from our mate. "I, Knox Grey, Alpha King of the Midnight Kingdom, reject you, Aubrey Houston, as my mate and Luna." The words slice through me like silver blades, tearing apart every bond we've ever shared. The mating bond that I've felt growing stronger each day snaps with an audible crack that echoes through the clearing. Pain beyond description floods my system—not just emotional, but physical agony that drops me to my knees.

Alpha King Xalen interjected fiercely, “Oh, this fight had just begun. The battle line has been drawn because I, Alpha King Xalen LeRoy, Ruler of the Northern Territory and Alpha of the Royal Pack, will not choose a mate because I already have one. Was I the only one who gasped? Can’t be. He was talking about me. “But she died a month ago, and the ninety days of mourning have yet to pass. So let’s take this to the court of elders. Alpha King Xalen completed his statement, washing away my delusion. Of course. What was I expecting from him? He has a mate, and she is dead—it was almost as if he were declaring my death to the world. “To hell with him and his politics,” I said to myself and final

“You’ve gone soft.” “If having empathy makes me soft, so be it.” I stepped closer. “Now tell me why you’re really here.” Tarius straightened, his posture shifting into something more formal. “The Alpha is dead,” he said. My jaw ticked. “Anarion passed last week,” he continued. “The council kept it quiet until the rites were completed. His last command was for you to take his place.” I scoffed. A low, cold sound that didn’t reach my eyes.

The reason was that once he find out about the death of his mate he was broken and he could not bear to stay her. Sunny felt sad just like everyone. Who wanted to meet their mate on their death bed. As she came out she saw Alpha with his you younger son who paused as he glanced over Sunny trying not to show his expressions. Sunny quickly greeted the Alpha who gave her a nod. Beta dreko exclaimed"then why is she in this kingdom. She is not supposed to appear before us" "I just wanted you to know, Alpha. I am your very trusted servant" beta dreko said. "Hmmmm, interesting let me see for myself." The Alpha spat He stood up and the servants bowed to him as he walked across the royal ground and came towards me. I bowed my head down and would not look up at him. I would not know what he will be up to. He reached for my head and touched me "so you are his mate, I thought that mates are supposed to love each other" he said as he brought up my face with his hand.

Alice walked over arrogantly, wrapping her arms around her chest and glaring at me with a sneer. She was the daughter of Alpha, the noble princess of our wolf pack, and her brother Jack Hebrew was the next Alpha heir, with a powerful wolf in him! My father was Beta, respected and loved by the wolves, but he gave birth to me, a loser who had no wolf and would only bring shame to the family. I was made to understand that I got this fate simply because my mother was an ordinary human. I calmed down and habitually wiped the water from my face.

The world held its breath. Kael’s eyes met mine. For a moment, just a moment,I thought I saw something there. Hesitation,my heart skipped. Then he spoke. Cold. Clear. Final. “I, Alpha Kael… reject you.” Silence. It didn’t feel real. The words echoed in my head, over and over again, like something distant and distorted. Reject you. Reject you. Reject you. A sharp, burning pain tore through my chest, stealing the air from my lungs as my knees threatened to give way beneath me.

The whispers disappeared and Elias's eyes narrowed. I could hear my own heartbeat. My mother looked at me in shock. Clara's face had gone pale. I looked directly at Elias. The man I had once died for. Then I took a slow breath. "I reject the bond." Everyone looked at me in shock, but my eyes remained focused on Elias. His eyes were wide and his lips were slightly parted. He looked frozen in place. I remain unfazed. “I, Lila Armstrong, reject you, Elias Carter, future Alpha King of Silvermoon Kingdom as my mate and other half. From now on, you are nothing to me…”
