I strongly suspected it was a breeding thing. Breeds were a big deal in our world. My parents were both Alphas, making me a superior breed. An Alpha and a Beta would breed a strong pup. Likewise, an Alpha and a Gamma and so on, but An Alpha and a Sigma would not be impressive. They blamed her for destroying the future of their pack.

My thoughts spiraled, each more dire than the last. What had happened to Jane? Was she even still Jane? The vacant look in her eyes didn’t belong to the girl who just spoke to me. She’d been full of life, but now, she was a shell. I buried my face in my hands, fighting back tears. I now got it why Alpha Kane wanted me to be just his breeder. This is what he dealt in. My only solution was to run away from him.

He said, causing me to chuckle a little. “I was crying because no one has ever cared so much as to think of just this small statement. My mind reels. “The alpha coming to get you is aware of your…current state. He’s told me he’ll find a way to deal with that before making you his official breeder.” Alpha Storm’s face morphs into a twisted smile. “He’s excited to get started creating an heir as soon as possible.” Fear shoots through my veins, cold and bitter. My words are stuck on my tongue as I try to force myself to say something—anything. They’re going to make me get rid of my baby? Why can’t Alpha Storm just kill me? That’s far less cruel than forcing me to kill my own child just to be forced to have someone else’s.

There was no way they'd tell Micah that Helen was with them without letting her feel more awkward. I wait for her to tell me that she is just joking or that she is just pulling my legs but she does not say any of that. She looks at me with a serious look on her face. I gulp a lump down my throat and sit back on the chair.

“What… what conclusion?” He hesitated. Then: “The Alpha has made his decision.”

Mykel’s wolf was silver, a breed of wolf known for their extraordinary gifts. This year was our turn to hold the annual Alpha meeting. Ever since Mykel stepped up and took over from his father, he had avoided each one with the excuse he wasn’t ready. But not this year, had we refused to accommodate it would have been seen as a great disrespect to the surrounding packs as well as those who are coming from further away.

Nothing else. The contract will end after you conceive a child and nurse the child for three months.” he added further. I glanced at the Beta, and all I could get from his looks was a ‘don’t you dare accept it’. Why won't I? Didn't he reject me like I was a curse already?
