A Rhapsody for the Playboy

A Rhapsody for the Playboy

Chapter 27 – Jayler I just got home after a day filled with anxiety and gratitude and I am feeling a lot of different things all at once. Disappointment. Joy. Confusion. Exhaustion. I don’t know what else is there but I’m feeling everything all at once. This isn’t the first time that I’m feeling a burst of different emotions all clashing at once but this is the first time that I feel like I’m about to explode. It is quite overwhelming on the inside. It has been quite a long day and I needed some time to rest and get all of my thoughts together.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned

I almost jumped in my skin when his eyes latch on to me – he looks at me with questioning cold eyes. For the first time in three years, I heard and felt something that rocked me to the core. My inner wolf, Jinx, painfully and needlingly howled. I could feel her presence for the first time in my life – she began clawing her way to the surface. We both still stared at each other, I could not look away even though my heart rate began to speed up. I was on the verge of a panic attack. I finally pull myself and looked away, my fingers fumbling with my bag’s zipper. I feel like a weight has been lifted off me, and when I let my eyes roam to where the fancy car had been I realize it’s because he wa

Mine Alone

Mine Alone

Not after the way he always managed to make me feel safe. We got into the room, and I immediately sat on the bed while Jane dropped beside me. For a brief moment, everything felt normal. Then Tyler found his way back into my thoughts. The happiness faded just enough for anxiety to creep in. “I just feel Tyler is almost onto me,” I confessed quietly. “Remember the time my dad called me and it was Tyler? His words keep ringing in my head. It’s as if I can’t entirely be happy.” Jane’s expression softened. “Come here, darling.”

In the Shadow of the CEO

In the Shadow of the CEO

"Yeah. Well, no, I just...it happens at every job I've ever had, actually. I walk in and...you know? I have these crazy thoughts immediately flooding into my head. Like, 'I shouldn't be here,' or 'Did I walk into the wrong store?' or 'What if I got fired and no one told me?' Things like that, except a lot worse and a lot dumber, too. I don't even want to admit to you what kind of nonsense questions start swirling in my head. My first cashier job, I was sweating all the way through my shift because I kept thinking that my boss was going to walk out any minute and tell me they got it wrong, and that I wasn't who they meant to hire." She laughed aloud at her admission, but the strangely sympath

I enjoyed this book immensely. I did initially have my doubts about how many chapters were taken up by Jia's first day but I liked the progress. It was beautifully written. Jia's journey from struggling 'single parent' with low self esteem to a woman loved and in love was really well thought out.

Loved this story of 2 people who showed real growth, evolving in a v. positive way bc of their emotional connection, determination to persevere under v. trying circumstanc. Yr treatment of anxiety & depression, particularly involving women was handled beautifully & with great clarity & sensitivity.

Sweet Dreams

Sweet Dreams

“Mine. Mine. MINE!!” I know that I can’t go back. I also know that I’ll never be the same again and I’m okay with that. Marcel makes me want to say yes to things that I’ve never said yes to before. Everything’s gonna be okay. I immediately feel my anxiety and worries slip away. I know for certain what I want now. I decide right then and there that I will no longer let my worries stop me from enjoying the good things in my life. I'm going to stop letting fear control me.

Pleasure Under His Command

Pleasure Under His Command

“Not when it’s convenient. Not when it’s easy. Not when it benefits them. But in the moments that matter most. The messy moments. The uncertain ones. The ones that test everything.” Izzy’s lips trembled, and she pressed them together, trying to keep her composure. “Someone who doesn’t trigger your anxiety,” Maya continued, her voice steady but filled with emotion. “Someone who doesn’t make you overthink every text, every pause, every change in tone. Someone who doesn’t leave you guessing whether you matter.” A tear slipped down Izzy’s cheek before she could stop it.

A twist in fate

She presses her forehead to mine and she shutters a calming breath. ****Okay so it took me like a week to write this between the rise and fall of anxiety. I'm working on finding my calm of the storm and I think I found it. Please be understanding that I'm still battling with my anxiety and the updates will be slow. If you can't wait, then simply don't read.****

Sins With My Ex's Father

Sins With My Ex's Father

It was gritty, like when you scratch a wall. Joyce tilted his head, tapping his chin, amusement flickering in his eyes. “Uhhh, surprising. Despite your condition, you still can speak up for her? She must be an amazing person.” He chuckled, turning briefly as he skimmed through his closet for a suitable jacket. “Now, let's see how amazing she can be hehe~ I’m quite curious. She can even make a man like Cole become furious. Truly worth seeing.” Mia’s dry lips continued trembling as if she wanted to speak, but she couldn’t. In the end, her lips closed, and her eyes slowly went back to her feet as she hugged her knees tightly, her position pitiful.

Accidentally Yours

Accidentally Yours

“Shayla, you can’t live your life in fear of being happy, babe. I think you’ve reached your limit of bad luck. You’ve suffered the worst. What else could possibly—” I hold my hand up and stop her. “Stop. Please don’t say that. My anxiety is running wild in my head, don’t add superstition to the mix.” I sigh, rubbing my forehead. “I don’t think my heart can take it.” Aimee and Jo both look at me sadly. “How long do you think he will keep chasing you and waiting before he gives up himself, Shayla?” Jo says, and I shrug.

I absolutely adore and love this book! The dialogue is fantastic. It's funny, witty, smart, sexy, better than real-life. Great ear for the back-and-forth. The storyline did not drag. Pacing was just right. She brought real emotion to. Congrats on telling a beautiful story with exceptional characters

The Racism Antidote: Love Like Jesus Does Racism begins with a lack of love. You can’t love someone like Jesus does and harbor prejudice in your heart toward that person. It’s impossible. We must love everybody the way Jesus loves them.  Jesus gets very specific about this in John 15:12: “My comma
