Rita trailed her fingers along the spines of the grimoires, each one humming under her touch like a sleeping beast. "This one," Derek murmured, pulling a heavy tome bound in cracked leather. "It’s been calling to you since we walked in." Rita took it, the moment her skin met the cover, a shudder ran through her.

But it was the light that blinded me. A searing, lunar white was erupting from her palm, a pillar of radiance so pure it felt like a physical weight against my eyes. Opposite her, the nightmare had ended in the most grotesque way. Laura lay slumped against the far wall, the obsidian fur of the Arcanum melting away, receding back into pale, shivering skin. But there, etched into the center of Laura's forehead, was a matching mark a silver crescent that pulsed with a dying, rhythmic glow, synchronized perfectly with the light in Lyra’s hand. From my calculations, not every account has been locked inside the game, but there are too many now. For the next hour, I paced around the room, unable to stay in one spot for long. Neither Luka nor Jake was able to access the server completely, as an outside force was blocking them.
