VELVET CONTROL

VELVET CONTROL

“Why?” “Because the staggered disclosure wasn’t airtight.” He looks up. “And you think you can make it airtight?” “I think airtight is a myth. But I can make it defensible.” That earns the faintest flicker of approval. “You’re learning,” he says. “I’m surviving.” “Same thing.” “No,” I reply. “Survival is reactive. Learning is leverage.” His gaze sharpens again. That flicker. Recognition. “You’re not here to survive,” he says quietly.

Falling for the bad girl

Falling for the bad girl

My father would share old photographs, cautiously supportive. The piece took shape slowly. Deliberately. Each layer a revelation. Jones taught me techniques I'd never learned in school. How to create depth. How to make paper look like it was breathing. How to tell a story without words. "Art is about what you leave out," he'd say, "as much as what you put in." The final piece was massive. Nearly four feet wide. A complex landscape of family, of healing, of unexpected connections. Sophie's flower crown sat at the center—a symbol of innocence and hope.

The Art of Deception

The Art of Deception

They were blooming right before my eyes, and it was like nothing I had ever seen before. I felt a sense of wonder and awe as I watched the flowers bloom. It was like I was witnessing a miracle, a magical transformation that was happening right before my eyes. As I continued to walk through the garden, I noticed that the flowers were starting to take shape. They were forming into beautiful, intricate patterns, like the designs on a Persian rug. I felt a sense of amazement as I watched the flowers form into these beautiful patterns. It was like I was witnessing a work of art being created, a masterpiece that was being crafted right before my eyes.

THE ART OF FALLING

THE ART OF FALLING

The sun was setting, painting the room in warm gold and soft shadows. Nora stood before a canvas, brush poised but unmoving. “You’re not painting,” Jaden said quietly. “I am,” she replied, though her hand trembled slightly. “You’ve been staring at that same spot for ten minutes.” She sighed and lowered the brush. “I don’t know what I’m afraid of more. I'm messing it up… or getting it right.” Jaden stepped closer, careful, slow. “Art’s not about perfection, Nora. It’s about truth.”

DARK DIVIDE

DARK DIVIDE

2. AVETHANDWA SISULU Being lost in dancing is exactly what I needed. Who needs therapy when there's music? There's power in music. It's soothing to the soul. Sometimes, it doesn't feel like dancing. It feels like moving exotically. It feels like art. A body art. Art is so much more than what we are taught at school. Art is supposed to come out freely. It's not taught or manipulated in any way. It can be strengthened, but it has to come from deep within. You're not a dancer if you can't feel yourself dancing from within, you're not a singer if it doesn't feel like expressing yourself musically. You're not a writer if your writing doesn't shock you from now and then. You're not a painter if yo

Satisfying Her Darkest Fantasies

Satisfying Her Darkest Fantasies

“I wasn’t talking about the kind of stuff you do. Art.” “But it’s true there too. The instructors make you learn how to do it the ‘right’ way so you can eventually do it your own way.” He shoveled in the last chunk of flaky crust and chewed slowly, drawing out the taste. “Then when you do the kind of art that makes you happy, no one thinks it’s real art. It gets called ‘folk’ or ‘rural’ or something that belittles it.” “That’s happened to you?”

As I look at my year in review, this author and book collection has been monumental in reigniting my hunger for reading. I can't track most of the books from this app easily for my year end count but in my heart this book means the most. I wish I could buy a printed version of each of these. .........
Mint Mocha
Only up to the first 3 stories...and I loved them! I wondered why the book was so big but it's broken down with several stories so when I get time, I'll read them accordingly. Pretty well written/edited and certain to make you desire more than you can handle.
